Free toolCompress Image

Compress images online

Upload a JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF or HEIC image, pick Light, Medium or Strong, and Pixsolo makes the file smaller while keeping its format, with a slider to compare before and after. Photos often shrink by more than half, and PNG screenshots usually by about two thirds.

How it works

  1. 1

    Choose an image

Click or drop an image up to 20 MB. Photos from your phone's library work too.

  2. 2

    Pick a strength

Medium is selected and compression starts right away. Switching levels recompresses, and every result is kept so you can compare.

  3. 3

    Compare and download

Drag the comparison slider to check details, then download. The file name gets -compressed added.

Features

  • Three strengths

Light is practically identical, Medium is hard to tell apart but clearly smaller, and Strong gives the smallest file for the web and messaging.

  • Keeps the format

JPG stays JPG and PNG stays PNG. HEIC becomes JPG and BMP or TIFF become PNG, so the result is ready to use.

  • PNG and GIF too

PNG is color-reduced and then losslessly optimized with transparency intact. Animated GIFs still play after compression.

  • Never bigger than before

If an image is already optimized and would grow, no file is produced and you are told, so you can try Strong or resize it.

Stored temporarily, deleted after 2 hours

Your image is used only for this edit. Originals and results are deleted automatically after 2 hours and download links work only for you. Date taken, camera model and GPS location are removed by default.

FAQ

Does compression reduce quality?
A little, depending on the level. Medium is hard to tell apart at normal viewing distance. For maximum fidelity use Light; for PNG, Light is fully lossless.
Can I compress to an exact file size?
Not yet. Compression works in three strengths. If Strong is not small enough, reduce the dimensions with Resize Image first, then compress.
Will an animated GIF still move after compression?
Yes. GIFs are compressed with a dedicated method that keeps every frame and its timing, removing only colors and redundant data.
Why does it say the image is already small?
The image has already been optimized, so re-encoding at that level would not make it smaller. No file is produced; try Strong or resize it first.
