Clean Up Scanned Documents Online

Document Cleaner is Pixsolo's tool for tidying up document images. Upload a photo or scan of an exam paper, contract, receipt, form or notes, click Clean document, and the background pattern, gray paper tone, shadows and grid lines are removed automatically, leaving a clean, readable page. Red stamps and colored ink can be kept, and you can switch to Pure white or B&W scan before exporting PNG, JPG or a single-page PDF for printing, archiving or submitting online. On a phone you can take a photo and clean it right away. Have a PDF? First convert the page you need to an image with Convert to PNG in Image Tools.

Upload a document image

Clean a document in three steps

  1. 01

    Upload a document image

Drop in, paste or choose a photo or scan of a document — JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC and more. On a phone you can take a photo directly.

  2. 02

    Clean the document

Click Clean document. In a few seconds you get a clean page; drag the divider to compare it with the original, and zoom in to check the text.

  3. 03

    Choose an effect and download

Pick As cleaned, Pure white or B&W scan, choose PNG, JPG or PDF, and download. Changing the effect or format costs nothing extra.

What you can do

  • Remove patterns, shadows and grids

Background patterns, gray paper tone, shadows, grid lines and ripples are removed automatically, and the text stays sharp.

  • Keep stamps and colored ink

Bright colors such as red stamps and blue pen are kept from the original, so stamped contracts and marked exam papers come out right.

  • Pure white

Turns grayish paper pure white for clean prints and tidy digital submissions.

  • B&W scan

Grayscale with darker text, like a photocopy — the most readable option.

  • PNG, JPG or PDF

Export PNG, JPG or a single-page PDF sized at 300 dpi, ready to print or upload.

  • Compare and zoom

Drag the divider to compare with the original, and zoom to 100% to check text edges.

Where your document goes and how long it's kept

When you click Clean document, the image is sent to Baidu AI Cloud (servers in mainland China) for processing and is used only to produce your result. The original and the result are kept in temporary storage for a few hours and then deleted automatically — the tool shows exactly how long. Document Cleaner doesn't save to My Library, so your documents aren't kept long-term. If a document contains sensitive personal information, make sure it's fine for a third party to process it before you upload. See our Privacy Policy for details.

FAQ

Does Document Cleaner cost anything?
Every account gets a few free images each day. After that, each image uses credits, which come with a subscription plan; the tool shows how many free images you have left today and how many credits an image costs. Nothing is charged if processing fails, and changing the effect or format of the same image, or downloading it again, costs nothing extra.
Which formats are supported, and how large is the result?
You can upload JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF (first frame only), HEIC, AVIF, BMP and TIFF; the tool shows the file size limit. Results export as PNG, JPG or a single-page PDF at the same resolution as the original. Very large images are scaled down before processing, and the tool tells you when that happens.
Can it process PDFs?
Not directly. First convert the page you need to an image with Convert to PNG or Convert to JPG in Image Tools, then upload it to Document Cleaner. You can export the cleaned page as a single-page PDF.
Are my documents stored?
Not long-term. During processing the image is sent to Baidu AI Cloud (servers in mainland China), only to produce your result. The original and the result are deleted automatically after a few hours in temporary storage, and Document Cleaner doesn't save to My Library.
Which images work best, and what if the result isn't good?
It's made for text-heavy documents such as exam papers, contracts, receipts, forms and notes, photographed or scanned. It isn't meant for regular photos like landscapes or portraits, whose colors get distorted. When taking a photo, fill the frame with the page and keep the lighting even. To keep red stamps and colored ink, turn on Keep stamps and colored ink; leave it off if the background pattern itself is brightly colored. Very dense pages may time out; crop them into parts and process each one. Nothing is charged when it fails.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. On a phone you can take a photo or pick one from your library; the image sits on top with the settings below, and you can zoom in to check details before downloading.
